S1000 help. (again)

S1000 help. (again)

2005-07-28 by tehronporter

Ok. I got my zip drive and all the cables are setup. How do I make it
able for me to use? Should I go under disk then format it first or
should I go under hard disks and park the heads first? Actually I
already tried parking the heads and it says bad park try again. Anyway
I can fix this? Also do I format it as a hard drive? Under format it
only allows me to format 60 mb. Does this mean I can only use 60mb of
each disk. Help me please. I am Confused!

Make sure your Zip is on before starting the S1100.
I set up my Zips as 30MB sectors (3x30Mb banks) so I only lose 7-8 Megs
off each Zip

Rob.

It is on before I turn the S1000 on. I checked all the connections and everything. But still when I try to park the heads it says bad park. What does this mean? I have the ID set to Zip:5 and S1000:6.

Well, I've never really had to park the heads before - It's generally
for when you've finished with the hard drive or Zip. bit like a record
player, when the LP is finished the stylus pops up and moves back to
its cradle.

Your SCSI is fine, When you pop in a unformatted Zip it should tell you
that it needs to be formatted, follow the formatting instruction and
you should be OK. There is a downloadable version of the manual on the
Akai Pro site, that'll sort you out.

If your still having problems, it might be that your Zip disk if
corrupted, does the protective slide move freely? or try reformatting
the disk on your PC/Mac using the Iomega disk tools.
