CD rom drive for S1100

CD rom drive for S1100

Anyone know of a cd rom drive type that works with S1100? It works great with an iomega 
Zip but refuses to work with my CD rom drive from my S2000 samplers. I want to buy a 
CD rom drive that works....

The S-1000 and S-1100 won´t work w/ actual higher speed CD-ROM drives .
Old 2x or 4x Apple CD-ROM SCSI-drives work for shure, - some old TEACs also.
Try to find these used.

I found an old mac cd rom and it works. A lot of copied cd�s I bought from Ebay doesnt 
work though.

Only these which AKAI in brackets after the products name if you want to load and play samples and programs !
For samples in other formats only, you have to convert these w/ maybe "Extreme Sample Converter" into S_1000/3000 format and to create your own programs, - lot of work !
Be shure to have the latest S-1000 OS in ROM or on a floppy disk inserted in the drive.
The OS on the disk will override the maybe older OS in the AKAIs ROM.
You´ll need lates OS for reading AKAI S-3000 format w/ AKAI S-1000 and some of the CD-ROMs are in S-3000 format.

Just FYI:

Have a look in the 'links' section on our page. There is a category
'technical' which contains a link to the article about putting 8 mb
cards in the S1000. 
If there is an interesting article about the S1000/S1100 which is not
in the 'links' page, let me know, and I'll update it.

thanks,I read the info,and I recon I understand it,I am just moving the jumper pins into new position right?(that are on the underside of the board?)
I am not been asked to cut the tracks on the circuit board with a knife am I?
I need clerification on the terms used,thanks,hope you can help me. ;-)

the track cutting stuff is just for the S1000 if I remember well, on the 
S1100 you just have to change the switches.

thanks sebastian,I wont be cuting tracks,I,ll just upgrade the s1000 with 2megs,and stick the 8meg board in my s1100 then,thanks

Whoever put the link up, it helped.

I was trying to install the RAM for
30 minutes the wrong way, once I read
it, everything was rosy.

I'm glad this group is around (and more
