Analogue-sequencer

hi Colin,
as i'm getting ready to start gathering parts for my second P3 i was 
wondering about the possibility of an alpha dial in the place of the 
data-pot, as has been discussed on this board before. you mentioned 
something about it needing a change from an absolute to a relative 
setting if i recall correctly.  i'd really like an alpha dial if at 
all possible, or does it require a huge change in the firmware?
if it's not reasonably possible i suppose i could just stick the top 
of an alpha-dial on the pot to make it look like an alpha-dial..;)
o and i've ordered the book "Maximum MIDI: Music Applications in 
C++", so i hope to be able to start on an editor in the reasonably 
close future. :)
