IMO the pros with a 'real' analogue sequencer compared to P3 would be the CV/gate outputs and the ability to clock the sequencer at audio rates to use as an alternative waveform generator. It really depends what your main purpose for a sequencer is whether you should choose something like the synth.com module or P3. If your use for a sequencer is to form part of a single patch on your modular synth, providing a sort of complex LFO modulation with discrete steps of different values, then you want a real analogue sequencer. Sure you can use a real analogue sequencer for coming up with interesting note patterns too - but inevitably this means coming up with great patterns that you will never find again because it's so hard to record accurate positions for all the knobs on paper. And you can only switch gradually from one pattern to another by adjusting each step as the sequencer plays. Gradually evolving patterns are great, but not if that's all you can do. If you want to sequence patterns of notes and controllers, especially across more than one instrument, I think you'll find a real analogue sequencer rather limited and frustrating. Cheers, Colin f
