someone's probably already suggested this, but you could use the futureretro mobius method for chaining patterns... you hold down the first key, and then press whatever key you want the length to be... for example, holding down the first key and hitting key 8 will create a half note. holding down the first key and hitting key 2 will create a half note. a sixteenth could be created by just hitting the first button once in whatever special mode this ends up being...
