Understood. It's challenging, but also great fun to learn both the Polymorph
and P3 simultaneously. The polymorph is really a great little synth (in my
opinion), greatly because of its sequencer. It doesn't do nearly as much as
the P3, but it really does some of the RIGHT things, and it is easy to use.
I will probably use it as a self-contained synth, and not use its sequencer
to control other synths, unless, of course, I get sick of its sound. Right
now, I rather like it.

Personally, I would go for this added capability in the P3 even if it meant
fewer patterns (of course, how many fewer would be the crucial issue). If
you wanted to set up 4 different time divisions or line lengths for one
sound on the synth, it would take up half of your available tracks on the
P3, whereas it can be done on one track of the Polymorph.

But, I personally really like this feature, and others may not want to
sacrifice for it. But as far as getting confused? nah....it would be far
less confusing than remembering the proper key strokes in playlist edit
mode, which is driving me crazy right now. I just can't seem to remember
them correctly...
