If you set up a playlist with a number of patterns chained together, play
mode record will record notes into each pattern as they cycle through.
The new sculpt option also works like this - as you hold the sculpt
softkeys, and move the DATA knob, values will be written into whichever is
the current pattern as the playlist runs through them.
You need to put record into 'live' for sculpting to work.
You can select what the 'upper' function will be using the UPPER MODE key.
The options are the usual, velocity, length, delay, aux A - D.

The quickest way to set up a playlist with a chain of patterns is with this
shortcut...
- Hold FUNC+<track> to enter playlist edit
- Hold the step key for the first pattern, e.g. 1
- Press and release the step key for the last pattern, e.g. 4

This example will set up a playlist with a length of 4 steps. Step 1 will
play pattern 1, step 2 pattern 2 and so on.
If you press FUNC again, then F1 to save, you'll now find your edited track
cycles through the 4 patterns in turn.
You can record a 4 bar pattern straight in there using REC+<track>, and once
you have notes in, you can sculpt any values you might want to change.
