There are two different clock speeds that the CPU may run at.
Pre-production P3s used an 18MHz crystal, production units used 24MHz.
As long as the crystal speed matches the CPU, you can use the later chips in
the early boards, and vice versa.
Each CPU has the crystal speed it is meant to run at stored in flash. The OS
adjusts to run at either speed by checking that setting.
