Factory presets

2004-10-31 by em_dkj

Hi Colin

Are the production P3's going to have factory preset patterns ?

It would be cool if it was pre-loaded with some patterns that really
showed the P3 off, and that a P3 newbie can use to get started.

I guess there must be plenty of existing P3'ers who would volunteer
some patterns. Paul must have loads !!!!
(Berlin school patterns anyone? love those!!).

Yours hopefully

Actually I was thinking about this the other day and pondering the
value of having specific examples that could be referred to in a
tutorial. It just requires a degree of organisation that I only rarely
attain.
However, after my next gig I have some spare time and will be making
available the patterns I used both at the gig and also some generic
ones with examples of specific auxilliary events. Hopefully that
should be of value.

Not a bad idea, though it would need some advice on suitable patches to go
with them.

I was thinking tutorials would typically include the setup of a pattern to
work from, but I suppose once you know what you're doing, that could be
rather dull.
Remember Stoffel's nice tool would help you organise them - assuming you
find the time to do something before I do.
I suspect I'll be rather busy for the foreseeable future though...

Good stuff.

Mr Nagle .... You are a gentleman and a scholar.
On a generosity scale of 1 to 5, you score 15.

I hope to be at your Space Centre gig myself, and no doubt I'm going
to see some hot P3 action.

Why not take some video footage of the gig and use that as the finale
of your tutorial videos. Not a tutorial as such I suppose, but a
great demonstration of the P3 being used in a live situation. Colin
could put it on his website as a promotional video clip.

Too kind. Actually I'm just a dude who, after years of searching, has
found the instrument I've been looking for to play gigs and have the
kind of instant control I've wanted. I'm simply grateful and want to
do what I can to explain some of the ways this beastie can be used. My
approach to using it is just one of many.

Well, Phil and I will try to satisfy.

I have a short section of live stuff from the US trip but problems
with my PC are preventing me doing anything useful with it. It's a
good idea though - will take my camera, stick it on a tripod and point
it at the P3. We'll see what comes out... 8-)
