second function for run button

second function for run button

2005-01-21 by bleep

hi all...

colin... if you're working on updates in between changing diapers, i'd
like to suggest an enhancement to the run button...

currently, it does nothing if the sequencer is already running. it would
be great for live situations (with no midi sync available) if hitting that
button while it was running would restart the *part* from the beginning.

my other sequencer has a dedicated button for this, and it has come in
very handy. it makes jam-sequencing a lot more musical and less fascist...
no more saying, "I WILL SEND YOU MIDI SYNC AND YOU WILL LIKE IT!!"

and, as i've apparently caught paul's overthinking disease, there could be
a user config option for how this affects the accumulators... by default,
it should restart the accumulators, but it could be set to let the
accumulators continue unhindered. this option i think is optional, heh, so
i'd be extraordinarily happy if just the restart from beginning function
were implemented.

later,
f.

There are a couple of entries on the TBI list that might make use of
the RUN button while running, including a 'restart' function.
As I get back into the flow of coding, something should appear.
Not in the next release though - that will add a 'pass thru' mode
for the knobs in play mode to make life easier for the knob grabbing
events, plus some sequencer engine improvements. Possibly more, if I
get round to it. I've had another successful compiler upgrade, so
there's still 8% free space in the ROM.

Cheers,
Colin f
