bigger LCD possible

bigger LCD possible

2005-02-15 by jitterbugbite2003

Hi guys,

just wondering: as you can never have too much control, and visual
reference over what you're doing, would it be possible to attach a
bigger display ? so every pot would have it's own space in the lcd.
but off course the OS would have to be changed for that, so...

or is the user interface of the P3 designed in such a way that you
don't really need this visual reference ? I've never worked with a P3
before

When you move a knob, the display shows what you are changing and what the
new value is for a couple of seconds.
You can inspect the stored values on each step by holding FUNC and pressing
the step keys.
A permanent visual reference for every knob would be nice, but I worked out
it would probably need at least 64 characters of display width. 4 16x2 PLEDs
at 30 quid a pop would add 120 quid to the parts cost alone.
I think most people get on fine without such expensive visual comfort.
If/when I do a more expensive big brother to P3 for rich e-muso types, it'll
have buckets of display, and a price tag to match ;-)

Cheers,
Colin f

Indeedy. I've been gigging the P3 for ages and a row of LEDs combined
with my ears tells me all I need to know. The display is handy to tell
me what the current key is... 8)
