CV/Gates a future addition?

CV/Gates a future addition?

Hi Colin,

Will you be adding CV/Gates as a future addition so you
can patch the P3 into modular systems via patch cords?

Cheers

I can't really see me adding CV/gate internally.
To get a reasonable number of channels, you end up with a load of connectors
on the back.

There's little practical difference between a processor-based hardware
sequencer with MIDI driving a MIDI to CV convertor, and a similar sequencer
with native CV/Gate output. You could argue that a heavily laden MIDI bus
could introduce timing errors that you might notice, which a CV native
sequencer wouldn't.
If/when I get the multiple MIDI output mod working, then dedicating one MIDI
output to a CV convertor for one synth will give you a maximum latency of
less than 5ms, which is to all intents and purposes instant.

I've got a MIDI to CV convertor kit in the works, which will be do the job
nicely.

MIDI vs. CV-GATE latency

I own a Doepfer Schaltwerk and MCV24 MIDI-CV/GATE Converter. From
personal experience, whether I drive an analogue synth directly from
the Schaltwerk or from the MCV24 which is receiving MIDI notes from
the Schaltwerk, it does the same job, can't notice jack in terms of
latency.
