order options

order options

2005-10-18 by hbeaumont hbeaumont

At :

http://www.analoguehaven.com/sequentix/p3/

they list two options for the p3:

midi + din sync option

and

midi + midi sync option

Can anyone explain these? I don't see the same options on the sequentix orer
page?

Also, anyone got a P3 for sale? I'm getting ready to buy one but would also
be interested in a used one perhaps.

Thanks!

production p3's have 4 midi outs plus one sync out, which in the standard
version is DIN sync. the midi sync out version sends midi clock out on
that output (but it sends midi clock only, and is not a fifth midi
out)

bleep.
out.

The reason the option isn't specified on the Sequentix page is the I've now
started wiring the SYNC outputs for both MIDI clock and DIN sync at the same
time.
This works fine with every device I've tested it with other than the TR808.
The 808 will work fine with a sync lead that has pin 4 unconnected.

Production P3s wired for only DIN or MIDI can be made to do both with the
addition of a few components.
Details on request.

Ok.

So if I order the midi + midi sync option, I'll have :

four midi outs
1 dync sync out that also puts out midi sync (no midi notes)

and my 808 will work as long as I have a midi cable with pin 4 unconnected?

sorry if i've misunderstood

The units Analogue Haven have are only wired for one or the other.
If you want both, a few extra components would need to be fitted which will
be supplied on request if you buy one without.
Same goes for existing owners.

If you have the socket wired for both, yes.
You'd need to use a Y-cable to separate the outputs for MIDI and DIN
devices.
If you were to make a cable up, leaving out pin 4 on the DIN socket would
make life easy.

BTW The new 'restart' function on the DIN sync output is very handy for
switching between play and edit on an 808 without having to stop the P3.
Only problem is that sometimes the 808 will switch pattern if you move the
knob from 'manual play' to 'pattern write' while it's running. You can
reselect the right pattern before doing a FUNC+RUN to get the 808 to switch
to edit.

So If I need din sync I should order the :

midi + sync

option?

(just want to make 100% sure before I order!)

It's written as 'midi + din sync' on the page I looked at.
I'm sure if you drop them a mail, they'll make sure you get the right type.
