P3 and Macbeth M3X
2006-08-07 by Olivier Tison
Just a quick one. I want to sequence my Macbeth M3X (analogue mini "clone" from Ken Macbeth) with the P3 so that it glides like a 303 when I tie steps with the P3, but is does NOT glide when notes are not legato/tied. the M3X has a legato function on the envelopes, so when tieing steps together it will NOT retrigger the envelope, which is what I want really, however, for portamento, the M3X needs a controller number (say #65) to tell him to turn the portamento on or off. The actual controller # can be set up to what I want (the M3X has an integrated kenton pro-one MIDI to CV interface)... So far I've been recreating the tie-gliding character of the 303 by setting up an aux controller number and basically replicating by hand what happens on the Tie line onto the Aux line. but it's a bit of a pain and a much simpler way could be to tell the P3 to send such MIDI controller accordingly to what happens in the Tie event sequence. so here's the question : does the P3 send MIDI event of any kind for steps that have their tie status activated ? if not, which is what I believe (after all, from a MIDI perspective a Tie is just a note off message carried one step further), then can I set the P3 in such a manner (say using an Aux events that would get the Tie status of the step and act on my controller number 65 ?) I had a quick look at the reference manual yesterday and from what I can read , there is no way to do that at the moment... I was thinking maybe Colin could give us some thoughts as to how this is possible ? -- Olivier www.myspace.com/massememoire www.lumina.ws [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
