am I missing something obvious?

am I missing something obvious?

Just received a brand new P3 from Analogue Haven this afternoon. Turn
it on and it defaults to Part 5, pattern 1. witch to [attern 1, part
1 and start through the manual. It plays part 1 just fine. But enter
a track/pattern for part 2 and it won't let me go there at all - it
jumps up to part 5. This occurs if the P3 is running or not. It
occurs on all parts except 1. Press any other part button and it
reverts to part 5. Try chaining parts 1, 2 and 3. It plays part 1
and shows the amber LED for parts 2 and 3. It gets to part 2, plays
one pass and then snaps up to part 5 even though part 5 was not
selected in the chain at all.

Physically, the sequencer looks immaculate and the box arrived well-
packed and with no obvious damage. It acts as-if the part 5 button is
always pushed down except when part 1 (and only part 1) is selected.

Does this make any sense? I gave it about an hour of trying and then
wiped the memory by turning on while holding down key 7 & F1. No
difference. Any help appreciated.

Try initializing the bank (presume it's bank 1 you are working with) though
I thought bank 1 was blank to start with anyway.

Good luck!...Graham
