P3 doing something strange

P3 doing something strange

2008-02-02 by Graham Getty

Hi everyone.

My P3 seems to have started momentarily showing Kn16L:0 << 85 on the top
line (the 85 can be 86, 87 etc) quite regularly.

I suspect it's receiving some midi data from somewhere.

Thing is, I've unplugged everything from the back except the power.

And it still does it!

Any ideas?

Cheers.Graham

That means Knob 16 lower has been detected moving, its stored value is 0,
and it's currently around the 85, 86 or 87 position.
Sounds like a scratchy pot, it could just be a little clump of grease.
Working it back and forwards for a while can often clean that up.

graham, all- my "live-rig" p3 was doing this when I woke it up just
now; it had been bounced around in aircraft holds & in
trains/cars/w.h.y. since I last used it.

exactly the same knob & symptom...

this p3 (1003, RGB) has it's sides removed (for reasons too
complicated to go into here) so I was easily able to see that the
push-in connectors between the boards were all a little loose.
reseating them cured the problem instantly.
just thought I'd share that, in case graham or anyone else has this
issue anytime soon.

duncan.
