syncing with cubase

2008-05-25 by sean_zoega

I was after some advice as to how best sync up my P3 and cubase (SX4).
Cubase wont accept MIDI clock as a sync source and I dont know if the
P3 will output MTC. I wanted to have the P3 as the master as its got a
tempo knob (so much better than a mouse for setting tempo) all advice
gratefully received. Thanks

ah cubase got rid of midi clock sync slave as well as logic ?
i wonder whats the reason for this.
in older cubase versions this was possible.
before you set your computer to master i would really recomend you
another software (like ableton)

Audio rules in these programs now - probably how most users like it. And
you can't do stable audio sync to MIDI clock, although I seemed to
manage fine on earlier versions of Cubase.

Yeah, it was dropped at the time of Cubase SX (around the time I stopped
using the program entirely actually).

The best way I've found unless you want to use Cubase VST etc. is to let
the P3 be MIDI clock slave. I've done this successfully with Ableton,
Reaper etc. and it works just fine.

Good luck,
