just been looking at the cirklon video over and over! wow.

i think its just what i need :) just curious about the proposed break-out CV box, i mostly use cv gate equipped synthesizers so i could def use this add-on but i'm wondering @ Colin if there will be CV + GATE outputs or just CV?

also, i love the idea of multiple midi + CV outputs it makes sense to reduce lag, but could the CV break out potentially be faster or better resolution than using something like a kenton or doepfer CV converter from one of the midi outputs? also when using one of these devices for extra CV GATE function do any or all of the seperate midi outs on the cirklon transmit all midi channels + midi clock? is it selectable? 

amazing machine, the big screen really takes the machine beyond 2010!

CV and gate.
Not much point just having CV unless you have a drone fetish ;-)

The CV breakout pipe will be much faster than a normal MIDI driven CV
convertor.
MIDI runs at 31.25 kHz.
The breakout box will most likely run at 10MHz, and at least 1MHz.
1MHz is already 32 times faster than MIDI.
MIDI doesn't really limit resolution - you can combine CCs to 14-bits or use
NRPN/Sysex messages if you want to send 16 bit values.
On serial MIDI, that sort of thing adds latency, but on a high speed link
it's not an issue.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly about transmit all channels + clock.
Each output can be configured to send MIDI clock independently.
Each track is configured to send data to a certain MIDI out port and channel
(though that can be over-ridden by an aux event).
The 5 serial MIDI outs and the basic CV/gate outputs or the CV/gate breakout
box will all appear as standard output ports.
In the case of the basic CV/gate outputs, this port is really a software
pipe to some MIDI to CV conversion code.
A configuration page will let you set up the channel assignment, voltage
scaling, retrigger and slide options etc. for each output.

excellent! bypassing midi for the analogue outputs is brilliant!! it sounds and looks like this machine will be a beautiful way to upgrade the studio's hub for sequencing of new and old gear with the least amount of cv conversion and midi latency possible.. can't wait.

one thing i forgot to ask, do you have the number of analogue cv/gate output pairs in mind yet for the breakout unit?

....how about 9? :)
