I'm really interested in the P3 sequencer. Do anybody from this group have an item for sale? Please let me know. Best regards. Y

There's at least one on ebay at the moment. http://tinyurl.com/3322h6v Though, the seller is certainly not taking any risks with the value they feel they deserve to get. And the statement about it being an investment that will never lose money is uncertain at best with the Cirklon waiting in the wings. If the seller is on this list, you are missing a trick by saying there were only a thousand or so made. I believe there are only a couple of hundred factory built P3s? :)

> There's at least one on ebay at the moment. > > http://tinyurl.com/3322h6v There's one on Vemia too, ending on Saturday, at a current price of 265ukp http://www.spheremusic.com/Bargaindtl.asp?Item=7562 I've been meaning to sell one of mine for ages. I'm keeping the unit that was reviewed by Sound On Sound, and the last of the final production run. I have another one that was the third last unit produced, new in box. Last time I sold a synth on eBay, I got quite a shock when eBay's invoice arrived, so I'll take offers here first if anyone's interested. It will be liable for VAT @ 17.5% if sold inside the EU, since it is new old stock. Best serious offer I get by Monday can have it. > And the statement about it being an investment that will > never lose money is uncertain at best with the Cirklon > waiting in the wings. We're over-due an update on Cirklon, but I have been busy ! There have been a few bumps on the road to production... the main one being the discontinuation of the encoders I was using. That required a re-lay of the user interface board, but the good news is that the replacement encoders feel much better than the original type. I've also had fun and games with the USB port, on the hard and software sides. While testing out the native CV/gate outputs, simultaneous with a USB connection, I was getting a ground loop that caused really bad injected noise on the synth under CV/gate control. Apparently this is a major problem for many USB attached devices that have a separate ground connection. The solution is a new chip from AD that provides total electrical isolation of a USB connection. On the software side, it turned out, after several days of head-scratching on my part, that the standard USB MIDI drivers on Windows XP don't like multi core PCs. It'll enumerate the interface, show it in device manager, and tell you it's working fine. But you may not see any ports. If there are any WDM-driver coding experts on the list, drop me a private mail. The revised PCB layouts are complete now, and boards for the next pre-production units should be winging their way here from the Orient duly. > I believe there are only a couple of hundred factory built P3s? There were 24 pre-production P3s, 139 factory units and 88 kits sold in total. Best regards, Colin Fraser Sequentix Music Systems Ltd http://www.sequentix.com

This is a pretty common problem, and has driven DJ's with laptops crazy for years. And I just saw that Radikal Technologies upgraded their Accelerator synthesizer with this new chip for the same reason. Fun with USB... --- In analogue-sequencer@yahoogroups.com, "Colin Fraser" <colin@...> wrote:

>>There's one on Vemia too, ending on Saturday<< I stuck in a couple of bids for it, but gave up at £400-something. since I already have two, it seemed a bit greedy to keep trying to outbid someone presumably trying to get their first. that said, if you still have the third-from-last, is £400 a bit cheeky? d.

I'd like to think a NOS unit would fetch a similar amount to the mint Vemia unit. I've not had any offers yet, so it could be on eBay on Monday. Either no-one here wants one, or they think it would be over the odds. Best regards, Colin Fraser Sequentix Music Systems Ltd http://www.sequentix.com

I'm very tempted to buy a 2nd P3 and would have if the Cirklon wasn't in the wings. Will it be possible to jump from track to track in the Cirklon without the need to save changes? That's my biggest limitation with the P3 at the moment. (And I don't want to learn v4 :)

If you buy a Cirklon you'll have to learn V4...

I meant I don't want to learn V4 on the P3. Whatever comes with the Cirklon I'm happy to grapple with. :)

> Will it be possible to jump from track to track in the > Cirklon without the need to save changes? You select one track as 'edit track' on the TRACK page by pressing the encoder for that track number. If you then go to the PATTERN page, you will edit the pattern on that track (creating a new pattern if none is assigned). You can switch between the TRACK and PATTERN pages directly. There is automatic creation of pattern backups or copies depending on the context. For example, if you are editing the pattern on track 1, and want to edit the pattern on track 2, you press TRACK, <encoder 2>, PATTERN. There is no prompting to save/lose etc. Generally speaking, we're trying to have as little as possible get in the way of just getting some music done.
