Hi list, I'm peeping here for while and this is my first posting. Just have bought a RS290 VC Delay/Sampler for my Doepfer rack. Since this device needs +5 volt extra I wonder wether I can use the Doepfer 5V low cost adapter which draws the extra 5V from the 12 V on the bus board? Any comments, thanks Ilanode

When I first received my RS290, I slapped it in a Doefer rack. I was very disappointed. The RS290 drew so much current that my powersupply was taxed, thus, creating instability. My oscillators sounded horrible and the RS290 malfunctioned. I have since added a larger power supply and everything works beautifully. Good luck! Matthew

Thanks for the hint. Having +2,5A and -2,5A for about 5 rows of modules there is no chance that the RS290 will draw too much power. For the time being no problem on the +/- 12V side BUT you got me on the 5V low cost adapter side. This tiny thing supplies 100mA only ... Will this tiny thing do it? No worries! The way Dieter did that little adapter is really smart. It's the same regulator as Bob uses, btw...so you're good to go. ilanode wrote:

You'd be surprised. A. Sys modules with displays pull anywhere from about 350 to 500 mils each. It adds up quick! ilanode wrote:

It worked for me! I thought (thought) Bob was using the same regulator in his supply, the 7805 - no? ilanode wrote:
