Sampler-Delay 290/295: External Feedback Loop

Sampler-Delay 290/295: External Feedback Loop

2005-01-28 by waveform100

I have the Sampler-Delay for about 2 Weeks now. I purchased it only
because of the external feedback loop. Its so cool. When you put a
good analogue filter into the feedback loop you get really analogue
delays. They are as good as my real analogue delays.

What else do you guys put in the feedback Loop? So far the doepfer
Modules Morphing Filter and the SSM-Filter work very well. The
doepfer Moog-Filter doesn't work too well, the input is too low, so
its not possible to get very long feedbacks. I will test is also
with Wiard, Oakley and blacet filters, when its in the main studio.

This is deeper than I thought. BTW: I have Sample Rate and the
damping on the two attenuators. Tweaking Sample Rate, Delay Time and
filter cutoff at the same time (joystick) is pretty cool.

hello wave100,
i have the rs290/295 for about 18 months, so far, and
i use it very often. i haven't tried many modules in
it's external feedback loop ,but very good results i
get when i patch the rs360 phase filter bank in the
rs290's feedback loop. i usualy modulate one or two of
the three BP mode filters of the rs360 with an lfo to
get more evolving results.

Try the Bode, this is the best in the feedback loop so far. Check out
every Bode-Mode and also the zero-mode.

hello w100,
yes, if i had the bode shifter rs240...
sadly, i do not have this module.

I guess for these kind of evolving effects you can also try the
doepfer FS, it is not a effect, that requires a through-zero FS. To
be honest, I had the doepfer FS once and didn't like it. I didn't
always love my Bode, but since I heard this effect, I would buy it
just for that (OK, also for the through-zero phasing effects).

Re: Sampler-Delay 290/295: External Feedback Loop

2005-02-01 by selfoscillate

some weeks ago i tried the doepfer fs in the feedback loop
of a moogerfooger delay with very nice results.
frequency shifters and delays seem to be a rewarding
combination in most cases.

best wishes

ingo

Re: Sampler-Delay 290/295: External Feedback Loop

2005-02-01 by waveform100

I am a analogue Freak, but I think for a FS in a Feedback-Loop a
digital Delay like the RS 290 is a bit more interesting in this
particular case. The MoogerFooger Delay is really nice (I had one for
about 2 years), but the frequency-range is small. The Frequency-Range
of a Blacet Time-Machine is much bigger, but the sound of the
Moogerfooger is "warmer". Too bad, the Time-Machine has no External
Loop function.

BTW: For guys who don't have a Frequency Shifter, try it with a
Ringmodulator. I just checked it with the Real Ringmodulator from Ken
Stone (CatGirlSynth) and its very cool too.
