Hey Monroe,

Stop! Don't plug that module in!!

I actually don't have any AS modules yet (I'm new here), but my
understanding is that the voltages on each wire of the ribbon cable
are actually in a different order from Doepfer which requires either
a purchased or DIY converter. (ie: you can't just plug the cable in
upside down). Check this diagram out:

Good luck,
Adam

connecting doepfer modules to the integrator

2007-09-23 by Monroe Eskew

Hi all,

I have an RS10 and I just got my first Doepfer module. Doepfer's website
tells you to connect the ribbon cable with the colored stripe DOWN, while
all my AS modules are connected with the stripe up. And because of the
raised part of the Doepfer cables, it seems I will have to twist the Doepfer
cable around to fit it in, putting it with the stripe UP. I just wanted to
make sure that this is right so I don't destroy my module.

Thanks,
Monroe

According to Big City Music, Doepfer modules can be directly plugged in:

Analogue Systems website says the same thing.

do you want to plug the doepfer module into a doepfer
socket of the rs10 case? (AFAIR, the AS cases have 7
doepfer sockets as well, apart from the AS sockets.)
if yes, then it is ok.
but, make sure that you do NOT plug the doepfer module
into an Analogue systems socket of the rs10 case. ok?

best regards,
Bakis.

You don't have to take anyone's word on it. Get a 10-EUR
multimeter from the hardware store. Switch to VDC. Connect the
black test lead to ground (chassis, the sleeve of a jack...).
With the red test lead, check the voltages on the ribbon cable.

Now follow the traces on the Doepfer modules. Dual op amps in
DIP8 packages (TL072, 4558, etc.) normally have the negative
rail (-12 V) on pin 4 and the positive rail (+12 V) on pin 8.
