New BCF2000 Owner, Almost Totally Lost

2008-10-19 by libraclassic2

Hey, all! I just put up a post and after a bit of thought, I
realized
that the post would neither help me or anyone else, so here's a new
post complete with REAL questions (not just frustrated rantings!).
The
Behringer guys say that I know far more than I give myself credit
for,
but my grasp on those concepts is fleeting and not long after a
moment
of clarity - I am back at "huh???". So I shall waste no more of you
guys' time, here's the questions (oh, there will be questions...):

1.) I've already figured out how to press one of the top buttons
w/the
power button to choose the emulation of my choice (Sonar, Cubase,
etc.), so once inside the program of my choice, how do I (or do I)
select a preset? Is it necessary? Why set the presets at all?

2.) I use Midi-Ox (it was the only thing that really worked for
me).
I have used that utility to send .syx messages to my BCF2000, locking
the presets in by pressing "store" once, pressing the preset arrow
keys
until I get to the preset bank of my choice, and then
pressing "store"
again to lock them in. Did I do this right? If so, why won't BC
Manager recognize them? BTW - why won't BC Manager receive data from
my BCF2000 even though it recognizes it and can SEND data?

3.) I hear gossip about encoder groups (those 4 buttons at the top
right)...um, how in name of Kansas do I use THOSE? What do they mean
to me (see my computer set-up and software used at the bottom for a
slight resume of what I do)?

4.) What's the big difference between emulation modes and presets?
If
I cannot change the controls while in emulation mode, then why do I
need the presets? Can I use the presets without emulation mode?

5.) I prefer MIDI-learn with some things, but how do I access that?

6.) There is a BCF2000 manual specifically for Cubase SX3 out there,
but to my chagrin, it was in FRENCH!! Does anybody have this .pdf in
English??

My specs/profile:

Computer:

AMD Athlon x64 X2 5000+, 2.6ghz Dual Core
4gigs (3.5 usable) DDR SDRAM
Windows XP SP3 (fully updated)
ASUS M3A78-T Motherboard
(2) Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 750gig SATA HDD
(2) ASUS 20x DVD -/+ DVD Burners w/Lightscribe

Mbox Mini
Line 6 Toneport UX2
BCD3000 (which works fine, no issues there)
BCF2000 (the problem child)
M-Audio Evolution MK-461c Controller Keyboard

Software in Question:

Cubase SX3 (this is the MAIN P.I.A. - pain in the ass)
Reason 3 (It works, but how do I modify the controls??)
Ableton Live (haven't tested with BCF or BCD yet)

With all that being said, I hope someone will be able to help me so
that this post can help others. For those that are going to help -
thank you ever so much.

Do NOT waste your time answering if you:

A.) Predictably answer in language that will make no sense to most
of
us or

B.) Deliver a smug, sarcastic remark designed to make us feel like
the
last ones in class to learn how to scribble or

C.) Say "just do this/that" without telling us HOW to do it:

Not only will it be a waste of valuble suicide time, but it helps no
one. I'd rather get a little help from a human being, than a lot of
help from a smug asshole!

Look forward to hearing from y'all! Ciao!
