A shot in the dark.... Do you have the same midi port outputting? Meaning - which port do you have outputting mackie control surface data? Is that port also enabled to output sequencer stuff? There are midi control surface ports and midi in/out ports. Make sure that the midi in/out port is disabled for all but the midi control surface. Hmmm.. I am not sure that made sense...
