I got it working. By trial and error in the end.
Here's how I did it in BCR Mode S-3;
BCR OUT2/THRU - PRESONUS MIDI IN - PC
PC - PRESONUS MIDI OUT - BCR IN
And we are all very happy together, flashing lights and all.
Next question is how would I daisy chain two BCR's together in this formation so that they work together with complementary visual feedback? Does one machine work as the master and one as the slave in MCE? It would be nice to have 16 pots in a row available. But I am wondering how would I scan through banks and V-Pots in this formation....
Is this possible not using USB connections for either BCR?? (I would simply load the same Mackie/Live sysex patch into the second machine and abandon the dodgy USB driver).
cheers

data coming in to its Midi in from the BC and then sending both sets of
data to LiveWith Midi merge if you are trying to output data and something comes in

the Midi in port you have to hold on to it in a memory buffer while you
finish your output, then you output whatever is in memory.
If the memory buffer is small or if the data from both units it
excessive the Korg will have what is called a framing error and throw
the new midi message away. At least this is how things normally work in
hardware.
At Abelton's end they are getting a midi data stream as if the Korg and
the BC are one unit and will have to try to seterate the data somehow.BC -> PK in -> PC

PC -> PK out -> BC
The only time you should get a loop is when Abelton joins the two
together.
As the PK doesn't produce a sound make sure the Midi thru is not
selected in Abelton
During payback Abelton should output the control data to the BC.
That all being said I have no idea what the PC will do with the stream
of Midi CC data coming out of Abelton which could get quite large.
Also the PK may be affected by the CC data from the BC at its input.I think you Presonus is a better bet

Try
BC -> Pro in -> PC
PC -> Pro out -> BC
Let me know how you get on
