Re: Switching presets while using multiple BCR2000's

Thanks Chris and Royce, this did provide me with some insight.

I actually want the master unit "preset" buttons to control preset switching for both units. My objective in using two BCR's is to create a 16 channel mixer for Cubase 5 and having two sets of "preset" buttons seems redundant - i would much rather reprogram the slave unit's for some other function.

But I think i need a little clarification on your suggestion Royce: you wrote that I could add a midi message to the preset. Is this neccesary? If I set up both units as the manual suggests - first unit connected to the computer via usb and the second unit cascading from the first via midi, and both units are set to the same midi channel, would the first unit send a "change preset" message to the second when I press the "preset" button? Or is pressing the "preset" button only an internal message that switches from one memory space to the next on the unit that is pressed?

Or to be more concise: Is the only way to get the master unit to switch presets for both units by programming a midi "switch presets" message into the "preset" buttons?

If this is the case, how would i do that? Midi/Sysex are not my strong suits. I use the Birdie editor, which is pretty straight forward, and my head starts spinning any time is see a sysex message.

Thanks again.

Or do I have to switch them seperately?

SO i Basically changed the channel of my keybopard cause i knew it had to do with communicating on the same channel.
