Hello all, I'm considering buying another BCR2000 to cascade with my current unit and I was wondering, since I've never had the opportunity to use two of them together before, if I switch a preset on the first (master) unit, will the preset automatically change on the second (slave) unit? Or do I have to switch them seperately? Thanks in advance, John

Well i can't totally answer your question but i know from using my Midi keyboard that when i changed instruments by pressing the "Next" instrument button the BCR2000 would also change to the next preset which was frustrating. SO i Basically changed the channel of my keybopard cause i knew it had to do with communicating on the same channel. So what i did was change the "Keyboard Channel" through my keyboard. It was set on Channel one originally. The BCR2000 is set on one also. I switched the Keyboard Channel to 4 and the BCR2000 stopped flipping preset everytime i changed keyboard preset's. I'm pretty sure that you can stop both BCR's from changing presets by changing the Global channel value basically. But i'm not 100% certain on this. Hopefully someone else can elaborate more or correct me if i'm wrong. Basically you would Enter "Global Mode" by Pressing both the store and Edit Buttons at the same time. Then Adjust the Channel value of the second BCR2000 by using the "CH" Encoder which is Encoder number two. Basically the top row of encoders but the second one in. ALso you'll need to set up your software to communicate with the channel you set it to. But your software might already be configured to all channels like it is with FL Studio for me. I would put the second BCR on channel two. I use FL Studio and I know That FL Studio is still able to receive data from the BCR no matter what channel i put it on, Even in the middle of a project. You can change the Channel on your current BCR to something other than one and see if your software still responds and there's your answer. Hope i helped... If i confused you i can explain further. The patch change message is only 2 bytes so you can have a whole lot of them on different channels to change your whole setup including the other BC. > Well i can't totally answer your question but i know from using my Midi keyboard that when i changed instruments by pressing the "Next" instrument button the BCR2000 would also change to the next preset which was frustrating. You can also turn it off so it wont respond. >pretty sure that you can stop both BCR's from changing presets by changing the Global channel value basically. But i'm not 100% certain on this. Thanks Chris and Royce, this did provide me with some insight. I actually want the master unit "preset" buttons to control preset switching for both units. My objective in using two BCR's is to create a 16 channel mixer for Cubase 5 and having two sets of "preset" buttons seems redundant - i would much rather reprogram the slave unit's for some other function. But I think i need a little clarification on your suggestion Royce: you wrote that I could add a midi message to the preset. Is this neccesary? If I set up both units as the manual suggests - first unit connected to the computer via usb and the second unit cascading from the first via midi, and both units are set to the same midi channel, would the first unit send a "change preset" message to the second when I press the "preset" button? Or is pressing the "preset" button only an internal message that switches from one memory space to the next on the unit that is pressed? Or to be more concise: Is the only way to get the master unit to switch presets for both units by programming a midi "switch presets" message into the "preset" buttons? If this is the case, how would i do that? Midi/Sysex are not my strong suits. I use the Birdie editor, which is pretty straight forward, and my head starts spinning any time is see a sysex message. Thanks again. John --- In bc2000@yahoogroups.com, "Royce" <rpcfender@...> wrote:
