Just to weigh in on emulators. I'm running OS X and I was never ever ever able to get BCManager to communicate with my BCF2000 using WINE due to some sort of issue with USB.
What DOES work is running BCManager in WINE on Linux (I use Ubuntu), which you can run on OS X in a virtual machine (I use Oracle's VMWare). It's not hard, just a sort of long process of installing stuff (including a a separate USB driver for VMWare... :P)
If you're not really in the mood and don't need to use BCManager right away, I was able to resolve a similar problem by restoring the factory default presets via SysEx.
