I have the greatest of respect for anything Royce says, but just before you go attacking the hardware, can you clarify. You said "i checked with bcmanager if the factory presets were loaded and saw they were, and overwritten on my presets".
Do you mean that you have re-uploaded your custom-made synth profiles to the BCR? Or that you saw they were still in place from before you had the problem? If the latter, hopefully you have them saved and could try uploading them to the BCR again, and see if that makes any difference. They must be saved in some form of on-board RAM so that could have been corrupted.
It's worth exploring all your options in software before you attack the hardware.
