Re: Behringer BCR XL Control Script

Disclaimer: I have firsthand experience with BCmanager, but I have only read the website info on Sigabort and PrEditor.

From what I can gather they are apples and oranges. Everything about Sigabort and PrEditir is about using the BCR2000 as a dedicated Ableton control surface. They look like awesome one-trick ponies if what they do happens to be exactly the trick you're looking for.

If you want to do something different, like say create a custom BCR preset that controls a complex hardware or software synth or fx plugin, (or three), I don't see Sigabort having that flexibility of letting you make the BCR do WHATEVER you want it to do like BCmanager does.

So if what you want your BCmanager to do is precisely what Isotonik describes (in great detail). Sigabort doing within Ableton Live - Awesome! If you want your BCR to do anything else you'll be wanting to learn how to use BCmanager.

I recently dove into BCmanager to create a Vec4.X Roland Super JX controller. It was extremely daunting at first, but I dove in with a bit of helpful advice from this group and the forum at Mountain Utilities (where BCmanager lives). The best piece of advice I got was to actually start with a preset script that somebody else had written for a vaguely similar application, and then rewrite for my needs. In the end there was not one single remaining piece of script from that preset I started with, everything had been written over or deleted, but it allowed to see from the start what the script should look like, where values go, etc.

This reminds me, I swore I'd donate for my use of BCmanager when payday came - and payday just came!
