Editing preset of BCR2000 using BC Edit program

Editing preset of BCR2000 using BC Edit program

2006-03-21 by kmxe

hi, i've just bought the BCR2000, updated the firmware etc and also
downloaded the BC Edit program.

I've followed the instructions in the manual included with the BC Edit
program to edit a preset (to test it out). When i attempt to save the
edited preset to the hardware, the following message pops up:

Timeout error

Timerout Error
while sending:
"$rev R1"

We are currently working on:
"$rev R1"

Anybody know what this means, and how to resolve?

thanks

Put the BCR in S-4 mode, and use the Midi connection to save presets. Do not
install Midi Yoke. Put it back into U-1 mode with USB connection for normal
use.

I had some problems like this, and I did have to use the MIDI connection to install the firmware (USB wouldn't work), and also there was some weird thing where you had to install the firmware updates in a certain order or something like that, but once it was all done I am now able to save and load presets from BCEdit through the USB connection. I forgot exactly what I did, but if you call behrenger tech support they should be able to tell you how to get things straightened out

You are probably using the Java Runtime Environment version 1.5.
Just by accident I discovered that the Timeout error does not occur with JRE version 1.4.2

Yeah, this is one of the things that I had forgotten... you have to have java 1.4.2 installed, instead of 1.5

Re: Editing preset of BCR2000 using BC Edit program

2006-03-22 by kmxe

I gave this a go this morning before work and it worked.... however,
a weird thing happened. After i installed Java 1.4.2, i tried to
copy a preset from the 'Controller' to the 'Editor' section. When i
clicked on the 'Graphical Editor', the GUI was messed up. When i
copied another preset into preset 2 in the 'Editor' section, the 1st
preset and 2nd were now fine after clicking on the 'Graphical
Editor' again.

BTW - this is going to be 1 of about a million questions i have
about the BCR and MIDI in general! I really want to master MIDI.
Currently i have a midi keyboard and have set it up so i can play
the VST's and have also assigned some buttons as the transport
buttons. but thats it.... i wanna be able to do more!

i get what you're saying.... i think i said it wrong..... but
anyways, i want to be able to know and understand what all the other
details of MIDI mean. Like all the MMC, NPRN, SysEx..... all of
that. I dont really understand all of that.

Re: Editing preset of BCR2000 using BC Edit program

2006-03-23 by kmxe

if they all do the same thing, then when would be the most
appropriate to use any of them? there must be a reason why there are
different types

Re: [bc2000] Re: Editing preset of BCR2000 using BC Edit program

2006-03-23 by Erik Bowen

it's just a system of organization..

http://users.chariot.net.au/~gmarts/midimsg.htm

if you can control every knob/fader/parameter/etc. in the way that you want
to, then you know all that you need to know.. the rest is just technical
stuff, not really useful unless you want to be able to jump into different
people's setups and get their MIDI working fast
