Can Bcf2000 control Roland Mks-80 and a Waldorf Microwave I ?

Probably. What do you want to control?
You can use Continuous Controller (CC) messages or sysex for most
parameters on most hardware synths.
You should get the manuals that have the sysex Midi details (usually
in the back of the Roland manuals)
Waldorf ?
There is this page
http://www.sysexdb.com/synth_detail.asp?dv=32
for some of the sysex.
Check out the user manual and post again with more details of what you
want to do.

All the best

Hi Royce, thanks for your answer. I would edit these beasts, as a
software editors do. Adsr, cutoff, resonance (Mks-80) and all digital
stuff with Microwave (edit waves etc.).

Start work on the MKS-80
I guess you are trying to build a MGP-80 with the BC
I hope you have a PC or are able to run a Windows program on the Mac because you can't do this sort of BC programming from the front panel of either the BCR2000 or the BCF2000

Work out the layout you want on the BC then get Mark's editor (for PC) from the files section

You can get the MKS-80 manual from here
http://www.analoghell.com/studio/index.cfm?fuse=downloads&id=58
At the back is a sysex section.

If this is a bit hard to follow, use a midi monitor program like MidiOx (for PC) and change the parameters you are interested in by using the MKS-80's front panel.
The MKS-80 should put our the sysex message you need to duplicate in your preset as you change the value from the front panel.
Try to work out the sysex spec from what the machine is putting out.
In Mark's editor look at the section called "Custom Output" on the control editor dialog

Hope this helps

Thanks Royce. Reading your answer I think that the real issue will be
programming Bcf with Microwave I. I have all sysex parameters for this
machine but it doesn't output any sysex messages at all. If I change a
parameter Bcf simply doesn't react. I'm not a midi newbie so I think
every cable is connected well. Maybe I'm doing something wrong in the
Bcf mode? Which one to use? Usb 1-2-3-4 or S (midi) mode 1-2-3-4?
Thanks

When you say that the BCF doesn't react, are you expecting the BCF faders etc to move with changes to the synth ie when you change patches?

The BC's only react to CC messages they receive and you need to have used easypar with CC in the preset to get it working.

The Bcf should say "Good" or "Bad" at each message input if connected
to a sysex source (midi expander lije the Microwave). Am I wrong?

When you are in 'Learn' mode the next message the BC receives is either
something it can deal with and assign to a control CC, sysex etc and it
displays 'Good' otherwise "Bad' but as far as I know this is only in
Learn mode.
In normal operation if it receives a midi message it looks at all the
controls set with easypar and and it tries to find a match to the Midi
message. If it can it sets the value of those controls to the input Midi
message value.
You cannot set a sysex message with easypar so it would just ignore the
message.

Sorry

Royce, I made it. With the learn function and Sounddiver editor now I
can control most parameters iof a Matrix 1000, and Yamaha Tx7. No
success with my Microwave...
More to come...

Well done.

There is a preset for the DX7 which will work on a TX7 in the files
section.

Hi,
is there anybody out there who is successfully editing the
Microwave I with the BCR2000?

I have started mith a MKS80. No prob at all. The MKS sends
out Data if u change the parameter on the Front Panel.
Just go in Learn Mode at the BCR2000 an record it.
But the Microwave doesn't send Data if u change parameter
at the front panel. U can see it at the LED of the BCR2000.
No signal.
If u program one encoder manual with CC Data and send it to
the Microwave... nothing happend.
Midi Chanel an Connections are OK, I am no newbie in connecting.
But if u change from CC Data to Pitch bend or Program Change the
Microwave Midi LED lits and it will be done. Only CC Data is
being ignored.Can someone help me?

I can't imagine that there no way it will work.

I think the problem is that the MKS80 uses sysex to edit its paramerters.
The Sysex spec for the MKS80 is a monster, even if you're lucky enough to find one that's easy to read.
The BCR is extremely limited with sending sysex strings. I think each controller on the BCR is limited to 6 bytes, according th the BCR docs.

Hi Christian

Here is a link to the sysex spec
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/archive?relPath=microwave/docs

From a quick glance at the sysex it looks like you need to have revision 2 of the OS in your Microwave to be able to access the parameters (but I could be wrong)

Download the sysex spec and see what parameters can be edited by CC or sysex.
Plan out the layout you want on BC.
Use Mark's editor and type the sysex string into the 'Learn' section for the encoder/button.
If you get into trouble come back and chat.

Are you saying that when you try to send sysex the Midi Led doesn't light?
If so it is likely that the sysex isn't programmed properly into the BC
Check with MidiOx to see what is coming out of the BC

I also recommend you join the Waldorf Yahoo group.
Lots of XT experts are there.

Just wondering if anyone was successful in controlling their Waldorf Microwave 1 (with v. 2.00 software) using a BC yet. I have a BCR2000 and have been trying to get this working for a long time now.

I have the sysex documentation from Waldorf's website, but am a bit lost on how to proceed.

Thanks,

-Alex

I'm working on an MKS-70 template. The programming is pretty
straightforward using the script editor, the hard part is deciding
what controls to use for the VCOs, EGs etc. You run out of real estate
pretty fast.

The guys on this board are very helpful.

Thanks for the reply Stublito.

Yes, there are a LOT of parameters that can be assigned in the Microwave as well. I probably won't need to map them all (maybe 2-3 BCR pages...).

BTW - What script editor are you referring to?
