Help! No BCR sysex dumps seem to work properly.

2009-02-01 by b21manatarms

Hi all, hope you can help me out. I've been struggling with this all day.

I've tried dumping several presets to my BCR, using both BC Manager
and Sysex Loader. I'm using the latest published drivers and firmware.

Everything I transfer appears to go smoothly but when I turn the
encoders they all have a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 1. I've
experimented with changing the default value in the scripts. This
seems to work but turning the associated encoder will only change its
value by 1 or 2.

Any suggestions? Do I need to have my BCR in a certain initial state
before I send anything to it?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Joe

Are you by any chance sending MEMORY presets to the BCR? Basically the
problem with that is that the BCR's actual behavior is determined by
the "TEMPORARY" preset ("preset 0" in BC Manager).

There have been several message threads about this in the BC2000 Yahoo
group lately; in particular you may look at my message "Re: BC Manager
midi channel issue" of Jan 1, 2009 and two messages called "Re:
Getting strated: saving edited preset" of Jan 8, 2009.

Let me know if this doesn't fix your problem.

No. Except that the BCR must not be in Global Setup edit mode ("EG" on
the display), or editing a button/encoder - but in all these cases BC
Manager warns you that things aren't working when you're sending a
preset to the BCR.

Mark.

Hello everyone. Regarding BCR sysex dumps, I've tried the mac program
BC Edit. So far nothing happends when trying to upload sysex files. I
guess reading the manual will help me learn the BCR2000. I just
purchased my BCR last week so I have not took the time to read the
manual. There has to be some editor/Librarian software available the
will work with mac/pc.

PS
the guy who modified the bcr/bcf all I have to say is excellent job.

will you be posting the designs? I would like to have two bcr's

This is a great controller one just has to spend time learning how to
program it.

SOLVED (I think) - Re: Help! No BCR sysex dumps seem to work properly.

Thanks Mark.

I've followed the advice in the threads you mentioned and the BCR now
seems to be be storing and recalling the preset as it ought to. I'll
double-check that it's behaving according to my script's definitions
with MidiOx tomorrow.

I think need to fiddle with the script's contents and the MIDI channel
settings on my synth (Korg DW8000), which seems to be ignoring
parameter changes from the BCR but responding fine to the notes and
clock data that the BCR is forwarding from my sequencer. Anyway,
that's an issue for another thread - or not, hopefully!

Thanks again,
Joe

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
