beginner's questions

2009-09-22 by trifonius24

Hi all,

I am new to MIDI programming in general and programming my BCF2000.

Can someone please help me out on the following:

I am using Cubase SL3 with some VST instruments (Stylus RMX) and effects (free ones like Blockfish and some bought ones like PSP Vintage Warmer).
Currently I am using the Mackie emulation mode and this is OK for Cubase. For the VST plugins it's not that great. I installed a trial version of MIdevice but I really didn't understand how to set it up and use it.

Here are my questions:

- How can I use my BCF to control my VST plugins? Is there a step by step guidance available for using BC Manager to set this up?
- Can I use BC Manager to control my plugins in the same session as the Mackie mode for Cubase?

Thanks a lot in advance and best regards.

Hello,

If you use BCF200 in Mackie mode you can not customize.
I think the Mackie mode is the best for Cubase/Sonar and the like.
I suggest that you try to configure your plugins to use BCF in Mackie mode.

Regards,
Marco

Thanks Marco,

Do you know of a way to configure my plugins in Mackie mode?
I don't know how to do this.

Thanks again

RE: [bc2000] Re: beginner's questions

Hi again,

I’m sorry I’m not familiar with the ones you are using.

I’m a Sonar and Ableton Live user and I use the included plugins and some others from Native Instruments.

I’ve found that with the BCF 2000 in Mackie mode you can control most of the included plugins but for softsynths I prefer to control them with my keyboard.

Good luck,

Marco

Re: [bc2000] beginner's questions

2009-10-23 by Denis Gerage

Basically you should know at least :

- how to set up which midi parameters you want BCR will control : best tool to achieve this is the BCManager , from Mark Van den Berg , search here how to download , and the basic manual how to operate the software

- how to use mackie mode : the file I mentioned before , on the download section you find it . If you only need a mixer that's enough . You will need the BCview , in order you could see what is your bcf actually controlling . Download it at behringer site

- how to set up Cubase's generic remote x BCF : tool is the cubase help. This is in the case you need to customize your system , to use for instance big softawres like a FM8 , or a Moog Modular with so many parameters that a mackie mode doesn't work well , you can set it up to control only a vst synth , each preset controlling diferent instruments

I hope this helps
