New to the Bcr comunity

New to the Bcr comunity

2009-12-06 by me

I just purchased a bcr2000 and it really like it, I am however thinking of returning it due to very poor support on behringers part. When it gets the templates right it is great but editing one is a serious pita I have been trying to make a template for Reasons Thor synth and it has been an exercise in futility. How hard is it to create a Sysex file the bcr can read?

Welcome,

I am aslo new to this world, but I probably see this journey more positive.

Answering questions. IT IS FAIRLY EASY.
There are many options.

1st you can use LEaRN FUNCTION. Time consuming but 100 % success at first go.
2nd method: You go to download section. There are pleny tools there to help. There are graphical user interface tools like BC Manager. It is also fairly easy.

3rd if you have some programming experience you can use even text editior as the sctipts are well(?) described. They there are tools to convert this into sysex.

Get to download section and grab all help, document, read and then practice, practice and practice.

Good Luck

I am a bit surprised.

Reason is one of the best implementations of connecting with Th BC units.
I have version 4
Make sure your BC is on - drivers loaded and in one of the USB modes.
Start Reason
Go to Edit/Preferences
There is a drop down list at the top of the new dialog. Choose Keyboard and Control Surfaces.
Try to autodetect using the button.
Or Add one.
Reason should 'take over' your BC
The LED display should zip round and round on the BC
If not open the Preferences again. Double click on the BCR2000 picture and check that the Midi port is correct.

When you select Thor it should just link to it. Try some of the encoders to see if knobs move in Reason.

It works perfectly for me.

It does take over the bcr with Thor. I just don’t like how it maps the knobs to things that aren’t of highest importance. Such as oscillators, filters, envelopes than anything else after that I’m not too concerned with.

In that case, you keep the BCR controller set up as it is.

Open Thor.
Right click on a Thor control and "Edit Remote Override Mapping", If not selected, select the BC controller and either twist the knob/push the button or select the control from the second drop down box.

It will disconnect what the BC control was originally mapped to and create a new link to that Thor control

Reason will remember these connections so you only have to do it once.

I have to do this each time for every instance of though I use looks like I may have to revert back to win 7 32 bit, something I’d rather not do.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
