Roland JX-10 and BCR2000?

Roland JX-10 and BCR2000?

2011-05-11 by thermos1979

Hi Folks. I've got a JX-10 with the Colin Fraser rom in it. The other 2 roms are 1.9. Will these older roms inhibit sysex in any way?

And what magic trick am I missing to get learn mode to work between the jx 10 and the BCR20000? I can get it to learn/see key presses on the JX as well as the c2 slider, but not any of the parameters with the alpha wheel. Am I missing something?

Could be wrong, but I wonder if your wheel only transmits internally?

Have you tried seeing what MIDI-OX sees when you toggle the wheel?
If it see something, and the learn doesnt, that would be a bit odd.
But of course if MIDI-OX sees nothing, this could be showing the wheel doesnt transmit.

I have a Miniak, and the data dial doesnt transmit jack externally.
Here the trick is to assign the current dial to a Knob X, Y, or Z.
Then midiox DOES see the midi when these dials are moved.

Maybe your synth is same? If not, apologies for the theory.

Hi,

Withe the Colin Fraser update, the JX does not send Sysex, but does only receive them.

The easiest way to control the JX-10 with the BCF is to use the GB-800 software, it's a PG-800 emulator that can handle automation:

Thanks folks! I was thinking this, but wasn't sure. I'm on a mac, and have tried desperately to get that software to work through wine, etc but no avail. What a headache!

If someone wanted to post a JX-10 template, that would be amazing.

Care to elaborate? I can't get it to work like a charm. Do you mean it works in learn mode, or?
