Oberheim Matrix1000

2011-11-16 by lisabbq

Just picked up a BCR2000 to edit my Oberheim Matrix 1000.

I'm on OSX and read that there's not really a good BCR2000 editor for OSX. I have an old windows laptop I can pull out if need be.

Would be great if someone already had a patch that I could load up?

I'm not even sure how to start getting the sysex commands into it. The manual that came with it doesn't really say anything about sysex. It can do this though right?

I've been editing the Matrix1000 with a Kenton control freak for a while now but really liked the look of the BCR2000 and having all those dials available.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get started?

Hi,

Try to check this page for sysex information about Matrix 1000
http://www.youngmonkey.ca/nose/audio_tech/synth/Oberheim-Matrix1000.html

for example if you want to control VCF freq you send

F0H 10H 06H 06H 15H 00H F7H

F0H --> beginning of Sysex
10H --> Oberheim sysex type
06H --> Matrix-6/6R/1000 Device ID
06H --> REMOTE PARAMETER
15H --> VCF frequency parameter ( 21 in DEC = 15 in HEX)
00H --> value of parameter
F7H --> End sysex

you can do that with all parameter

try to use this software to configure your BCR2000
http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/AN7DTvv0nGoCgYIDva78eYzxN_rWyubhdMjXD5L3sZHxml-gNWuo7U8BmRpDqVPMtLNKKd982VfpAzCpg3M3nfwdzvumYKU/Applications/bcfredit_V0.41.zip

You select "LEARNED" on the type knob selector and you put the right sysex you need under
Try it it's so easy
You have to right the sysex like this $F0 $10 $06 $06 $15 val $F7

hope it help you

Thanks for your help. Wow, that was easy enough. If only the manual explained it that simply.

Wish there was a nice OSX editor. It's a little annoying typing long sysex strings into those little boxes.

I've been searching "BCR2000 & Matrix 1000" for a few days and I've found various snippets of information, I might try and post some links on here. And maybe even a BCR2000 Matrix1000 patch when I'm done!
