BCN44 Parameter feedback?

BCN44 Parameter feedback?

2011-12-28 by maximo

I need some help here.
I have a BCR2000 that works very well with my software. Specially the parameter feedback (When i change the values of my software the BCR2000 knobs goes to the right position automatically)
Ok, because the BCR is too big to carry for live performance i decided to buy a BCN44. The problem is that the mentioned parameter feedback does not work on the BCN! When i move the software sliders the knobs dont update!
I looked at the manual and it did not say anything about it. Am i doing something wrong or the BCN really does not have this feature?
The firmware of my BCN is 1.02, is this one the latest
Please someone help, if the parameter feddback does not work on the BCN this midi controller will be pretty useless for my live aplcation
Thanks a lot

Tom

Yes, as far as I know.

I've just run some tests on my own BCN44 using BCN44 Manager:

Like you, I can't get parameter feedback to work at all;
not for the buttons, not for the encoders.

The encoders don't have the BCR/BCF2000's LED circles, so for the encoders you wouldn't immediately see any parameter feedback anyway.
But when I send a CC message to the BCN and then turn the pertinent encoder, it's always still at its old value.

The buttons do have LEDs, but these LEDs never change upon parameter feedback, and neither do the buttons' actual on/off states.

So it appears that the BCN44 doesn't support parameter feedback at all.

Mark.

Thanks a lot Mark

You just confirmed what i expected after my last tests. Looks BCN44 is not like his big brother BCR2000. It is really weird for me because, at least for me, the reason for have rotary encoders is for parameter feedback or for avoid jumps when change the values in the software. This is really sad, at least it was a very cheap purchase i made.
So now,to avoid the said jumps when change presets, i have to deal with the big size of my BCR2000, or looking for an used Doepfer Pocket Dial, a Faderfox Ld2 or get use with my Novation Noturn and the shitty Automap (i hate that!!)
Anyway, thanks agian Mark.
If there is some suggestion about my issue i would really appreciate that

Tom.
