Vector update of preset NRPN values

Vector update of preset NRPN values

2012-05-24 by sghookings@tiscali.co.uk

Hi All

I developed some templates for AKAI Miniak (there are in the files section/miniaktools).

I am working on some hardware to "solve" the A14 <--> S14 issue.

Is there a way to vector update all of my preset definitions to add on 8192 to each min/max range?

For sure if I can turn the syx into a text "Royce" representation, I can write a unix script to do this.
If I new the format of the sysex I could probably do something.
I dont really want to have to go thru 7 presets, but there again I will have to modify the layouts anyway, so maybe this is my only option?

One second question regarding parameter feedback.

So I am writing the merge software to allow master keyboard/Miniak output to feed the merger/and this goes into the BCR.
The idea being that XYZ info from the Miniak can be transformed and fed back into the BCR.

My hope is this means that as I change the XYZ on Miniak, the internal of the synth will be updated, but the output will also feed (via merged transform) into BCR and hence update the BCR's LEDs (and the LCDs I added!).

Is this a reasonable hope?

Now I am assuming this will also trigger the output from the BCR which gets fed via my tranformer into a thru box and around the system back into Miniak In.
Which will also make the Miniak internals update (but wont be replicated to the out hence avoiding midi loops).

So I should eventually have 1 knob biased around 8192 (mid range) and transforming the output back to the A14 (effective + 8192 & 16383).

And all because of -ve NRPNs :-(

If anyone can think of an easier way to achieve this I am all ears.

Regards

Steve H
