BCF2000 - Mac - Live 8.2 - Any solutions / workarounds are welcome !!!!!

First, again, I am working on Mac OS with Ableton Live 8.2. BCF firmware 1.10

I am using APC40 + BCF2000 + Novation Launchpad which are all working individually ok.

1) The first part of my problem is trying to keep my presets stored on the BCF. I have followed the manual, and others instructions in here, tried a midi dump from Ableton which appears to work but upon restart has erased all my settings. I cant get BCEdit or BCmanager to recognize my unit, and Ive even tried global reset (PaNc) on the BCF. I basically want to use my BCF as a mixing console, with each preset representing a bank of 8 tracks, so that when I move the preset I am selected on the next bank of 8. Each time I map this manually and restart Live and the unit my mappings are erased. Can anyone help me shed some light on this ?

2) Is it possible to 'sync' my controllers so that if I move bank right on my apc, the BCF will Focus on the same bank. I am trying to avoid having to match up the track focus manually with each controller as the BCF has no display for me to see in live. It would be extremely helpful that the 'red box' for the apc is the master bank focus and when moved all of my controllers focus on the same bank. Is anything like this possible ?

Thanks for anyone who can offer me some help/advice, very much appreciated !

BC-Edit is problematic anyway, so you can probably forget about that one.
BC Manager is a Windows program, so how have you been trying to use it anyway if you're working on a Mac?

I'm not an expert on Live, but as far as I know you can have Live send a standard (Control Change) setup to the BCF - but this only affects the "temporary preset" of the BCF, so naturally when you switch off the BCF, this preset is lost.
But I'm not sure whether that's what you've been doing. What do you mean by "my mappings"?

I'm not sure what your APC can do, but in any case it's possible to make the BCF switch between presets via MIDI Program Change commands.
See "BC MIDI Implementation.pdf" (available from http://home.kpn.nl/f2hmjvandenberg281/bc2000.html), section 19.3.

It's also possible to have the BCF SEND Program Change messages when you switch between presets manually via the PRESET buttons.
See e.g. sections 13.3 and 13.7 of BCMI.
(Actually you'd probably want to use BC Manager to set this up.)

Hope this helps,
Mark.

BC Manager is an editor for the BCF2000/BCR2000, so I'm a bit mystified why you would want to connect it with your APC40.
At most you could enable the APC40's MIDI devices via Options -> MIDI devices, then monitor its MIDI output, but that's about it (and there are better tools for that, like MIDI-OX or my own MIDI Tools).

Mark.

Apologies,

I meant my BCF2000, not APC. BCmanager will not recognize my BCF2000 on both PC and Mac. I have sort of got the mapping to work with the crappy BCeditor that Behringer put out but it still doesn't solve my problems. I am really trying to get my BC and APC to sync up so I can have a unified track focus.

Another easy solution I thought of was if anyone knows how to get the red box/red ring/ track focus ring whatever you call it to show up for the BC in ableton. Then at least I would know which bank I am selected on when producing.

So that question above, and any idea why the BC manager wont recognize my BCF2000 (not APC my bad)

Thanks

No idea.
Under Windows, BC Manager should recognize your BCF automatically, provided you have installed a suitable USB driver for the BCF, and switched on the BCF before starting BC Manager.
You might want to take a look at sections 4 and 6 of BC Manager Manual for some detailed tips and setup procedures.
As a "last resort" brute-force remedy the "Restart with default setup" operation (from BC Manager's main window's File pull-down menu) may help.

Mark.

Got it to work with "Restart with default setup" thanks for that.

Now looking for help with the issue of keeping track of my location of the BCF in Ableton. There is no display or indicator as to which bank of tracks I am selected on, which poses a problem in my 32+ track productions.

Anyone have ideas ?
