BCR2000 - USB 1.1 or 2.0?

BCR2000 - USB 1.1 or 2.0?

2013-02-21 by Parvo

Hi all,

I'm going to be purchasing a powered hub to run my BCR2000 and Launchpad simultaneously for live gigs. One of the big things with hubs is that they should match the USB type of the incoming devices as closely as possible.

The Launchpad is USB 1.1. Does anyone know if the BCR2000 is USB 1 or 2?

Thanks very much,

-jeremy

Hi there,

I'm fairly certain it's more important to make sure that your USB hub isn't using too old a protocol. For instance, you wouldn't want to run a 2.0 device on a 1.1 hub.

For most applications USB 2.0 should suit you fine. I think one of the only instances you might want a 3.0 hub is if running an USB audio interface instead of Firewire.

I've never heard this.

You can't, or at least that's not my understanding. You can run a 1.1 device in a 1.1 hub or a 2.0 hub (or now a 3.0 hub), but you can only run a 2.0 device in a 2.0 hub (or 3.0 hub) - the 2.0 device won't work in a 1.1 port that's 1.1.

Here are a couple of things to consider:
* I think the BCR and the BCF are both 1.1, so this won't be an issue.
* USB 2.0 hus are more common than 1.1 these days, so just but a 2.0 hub (though do buy a powered one)
* If you have doubts, you can e-mail Behringer.
