How to determine fader midi value, and get motorized faders going?

How to determine fader midi value, and get motorized faders going?

2013-02-21 by bconfused2000

So my motorized faders work okay in Mackie Emulation mode, but I've discovered the knob response doesn't work as desired so I'm trying to setup my own custom preset.

Ideally I'd like the faders to map to individual channels, as well as encoders for panning, similar to the Mackie mode, but with my custom knob resolution setup.

I'm getting a bit more used to BCManager but I'm not sure how to pre-determine what I want to map for each channel. Can anyone give me a brief summary on how I'd setup a new preset to have a fader map (and be motorized) to a channel in Ableton? I understand how to import/export presets and save my changes, but I'm not sure of the correct settings to configure in BCManager to have the motorized faders pick up the various channels in the DAW.

Thanks for any advice

An update:

So I'm making some progress it seems. Mackie emulation mode isn't very suitable for my BCF2000 with Ableton, as the knob resolution doesn't seem right on that setting and there's no way to change it.

However I've downloaded the factory presets from the Behringer site, and preset "page 1" works beautifully across channels 1-8 on my BCF, likewise on my BCR.

I'm a bit confused on how to translate these settings over to the other preset pages, such that they map to channels 1-8 on pg1 (as it does now) channels 9-16 on pg2, 17-24 on pg3, and so on...

If I just copy preset 1 over to the other pages, how would I change the defined controlled channels in BCManager (so that Preset Page 2 controls channels 9-16, not 1-8, for example.) If anyone might have any input offhand it'd be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks everyone for the invaluable help so far, this seems to be coming together finally.
