Some BCR funtion questions

Some BCR funtion questions

2013-08-22 by brian_chinetti

Hi all,

I just was given a BCR to hook up edit some of my hardware synths and apparently I'm a complete noob when it comes to midi and sysex. So I have some questions I just can't get sorted out by myself...

I'm on OSX 10.8 but I have BC manager installed with Bootcamp running Windows 7. I downloaded BCR presets for the DW8000, the Alpha Juno, Kawai K1 and the JX8p. But if I load one sysex preset, another gets overwritten unless I copy the already present preset to another location. I'd like to know, can you determine beforehand to what location the preset loads?

I've been using a DW8000 preset to test with my sequencer and am faced with another problem. When I connect the BCR directly to the DW8000 everything works fine. But when I connect the midi out of the BCR to the midi in of my midi card, I can not edit the DW8000. Yet, when I connect a midi keyboard to that same port 8, I can play the DW8000. I can't imagine this is normal, so am I overlooking something?

Also, I couldn't get Sizzlemeister's PG300 preset I downloaded here to work with my Alpha Juno 2, at all... Sysex is on, and the midi channel is set to 7 like the read-me said, but what is this 'ID1' that is mentioned in there too? What must I do to get the bcr to control the Alpha Juno?

Thank you for your time,

Brian

this will help with programming your alpha juno...i've done it, works great, except sometimes the knobs are a little noisy, in which case redoing the knob assignment usually fixes that problem.

I'm not quite sure what procedure you're following, but to understand what's going on, it might help to look at the FAQ section of the BC Manager manual: questions 11, (27,) 28, 35, (39,) (43,) and (the final part of) 45.

Hard to say based on this information, but have you set the BCR's Operating Mode (S/U-1/2/3/4) correctly?

Hope this helps,
Mark.

Why did you connect it to your Mac via Midi. Have you tried USB with the USB3 setting?
