Frustrating problem with BCFView

Frustrating problem with BCFView

2006-02-05 by Shane MacDougall

I just got my BCF a few days ago and am ready to hurl myself out the
window. Luckily I live on the ground floor.

I am having NO luck with BCFView showing me anything - I just get a
big blue box with no numbers, no nothing. I have selected the BCF as
the input and still snake eyes.

Anybody able to tell me what I am doing wrong?

Shane

Graham - thank you for your input and hopefully you can help me with
these follow up questions. I was running the most current driver
(1.1.1.1), but this morning I booted it up with no-os. Whoops! I
reflashed the bios and now it works like a charm.

Thanks very much for your help though! I am looking forward to
learning this baby inside and out...

Shane

Hi Shane:

In order for the "BCF View" utility to work, the BCF2000 must be on,
connected, and booted into one of the appropriate 'Mackie Control'
emulation modes. Additionally, a suitable software application -
such as Cubase SX or Sonar - must be running and connected to the
BCF2000 as a 'Mackie Control'.

On the original Mackie Control hardware that is being emulated by the
BCF2000's emulation mode displays on the hardware display text that
is sent to the unit from your recording software. Similarly, the "BCF
View" applet intercepts these text 'labels' and displays them - but
only if appropriate DAW software that supports the Mackie Control
protocol is sending text to be displayed.

For more information on the BCF2000's 'emulation modes' and how to
get the BCF2000 booted into the appropriate emulation mode for your
software, check out the PDF document "B-CONTROL BCF2000 Emulation
Modes" Guide at the following link:

Re: Frustrating problem with BCFView

2006-07-09 by bso217

I'm having the same problem with BCFview.

I have the BCF2000 connected via USB to a Centrino laptop,
and the BCF2000 is in U-1 mode.

I've set the BCF2000 to Mackie Control emulation, as described
in the emulation modes guide, and start the BCFview utility
before launching the software sequencer.

I've tried both Nuendo v3.2 and Ableton Live 5 and have
set up both of them for Mackie Control operation.

I've checked that the correct MIDI In and Out ports are
selected in both Nuendo/Live and in the BCFview app.

At all times, the BCFview display remains blank with no
numbers or data of any sort appearing at all.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Brian

I should also mention that I'm using the latest Behringer USB MIDI
driver for Windows XP v1.1.1.1 and firmware v1.10.
