I ordered a Burst Generator and Sub-Oscillator from Elby and they
shipped with Fairchild 4017's. Neither of them worked so I bought a
couple of Philips 74HC4017N's and some ST 4017's.
The ST's worked fine, however the Philips overheat in both circuits.
So avoid Fairchild and Philips 4017's!
This might be related to the exploding TI 4017's mentioned in message
#1968.
Could it be that 15v is too much for the Philips and TI's?
