re. +5v for the Philips - I had a feeling, although I couldn't find
any specs about that :)

I'm also not sure why the fairchild's didn't work while the ST's did.
No worries though as I got it all sorted out.

It could have been just a freak occurrence though, so take my
observations with a grain of salt.
