Bi-N-Tic on!

Bi-N-Tic on!

2005-06-11 by charlesosthelder

No muss, no fuss - just one wrong part - and more cool noise than any
one device should be able to make! I still have to tweak my setup, but
this baby is GREAT!

I used the Brewster sub mod, but without the switch. Instead, the
panel has four sub outs, two inputs with attenuation, an attenuable FM
input, sync and V/oct ins. I left out the switch and use a patch cord
instead to keep things cleaner.

The setup seems a bit different from the VCO. Does anyone have any
thoughts about the setup? I just went for maximum range for now.

One again, thanks Ken!

Glad to hear my suggestion was helpful. I just got in all my Bi-N-Tic
parts, but haven't assembled it yet. My module will use the Stooge
panel that Dave Brown came up with. Since Larry Hendry hasn't started
taking orders for the panels yet, I'll have to wait a while. In the
mean time I will build the PC board and test it. I know it will be
great, because when my wife heard one of the Bi-N-Tic samples, she said,
"Please don't get that module!" Thanks again, Ken, for reading old
Electronotes and making PC boards.

I still am unsure of the complete function of mine. The bandwidth
control needs to be at least 3/4 open to hear the incoming signal
when tracking the v/oct CV. I can hear the deeply filtered input
when the damping is way up. Maybe I'm expecting too much "filter-
like" quality?

I set up the VCO core just like the CGS VCO. The Bi-N-Tic tracks
very well. The FM input provides a good deal of fun, but a "normal"
sweep with an EG plugged into the v/oct is not realy happening for
me. It's more like sweeping a VCO - with lots of modulation.

I guess I need to play more. It is fun to play with the Bi-N-Tic as
the results are not what you'd think you should get.

Hmm... that will make testing the thing interesting. How will I know whether
or not it's working right? :-)

Hee hee! It'll depend on how big a smile you have while using it.

Chub- smiling a lot lately...

I find that the range of the controls is rather interactive. The setting of
the damping affects the response of the bandwidth etc.
