Does anyone know if the infinite melody is similar to Blacet's 'Binary
Zone'?

thanks

No, these are completely different. The Infinite Melody generates a
series of control voltages, generally for use in contolling VCO pitch.
The Binary Zone is a type of frequency divider used to provide different
divisions of a frequency on the input. Binary Zone is for the most part
an audio device, whereas IM is a control voltage generator. The CGS36
Pulse Divider and CGS22 Master Divider are more like the Binary Zone.

Thanks. That makes sence.
There is so much to learn w/ these! I've been using analog modeling
synths for years, so I've got the general audio stuff figured out, but
these modulars go so far beyond that.
Now I really want to learn how to make it produce its own melodies. I
was thinking of building a sequencer, but I think Im more interested
in some of these modules that Ken has created. I just dont quite get
it yet.
I think I need to build a couple of them before I really understand
what they do.

now i am confused, i thought that the BZ generated patterns by diving a
clock by diffrent frequencies

Hmm...

I have both, but have never tried them side by side. There are some
similarities in terms of generating pseudo-random
melodies/patterns/voltages, but they are different in how they go about
it. I think of the BZ as a kooky analog sequencer generating its own
output, whereas the infinite melody takes an input voltage and
processes it into pseudo-random variations.

I stand corrected about the BZ. It is a pattern generator, as well as a
frequency divider. However it works quite differently in that the
patterns are not random or fractal based, as is the Infinite Melody.
Both are very cool modules to have.

you know what you were saying, it was just a matter of semantics.
