Sequential Switch Help Needed

Sequential Switch Help Needed

2003-06-10 by elle_webb

I'm getting ready to build the sequential switch and need advice on a
few things.

First off, what would be the best way to incorporate pots at the
inputs? What pot values would work best & what's the best way to wire
each pot into the switch?

Second, would it make sense to build the switch so that one had the
option of routing in external signals to each of the inputs? If so,
would it be possible to use the pots to set CV's if no jack was
inserted, but adjust the input level when a jack was inserted?

What's the Inhibit input do?

Also, I haven't seen a panel for this - I'll try to put one together.
Here are the panel items I've identified:

Inputs:
Reset - Momentary Switch
Reset In - jack
Up/Down - Toggle
Clock In - jack
Inhibit - jack
Mix In - jack
In 1-8 - jacks
Levels 1-8 - pots

Output Jacks:
Out
Inverted Out
Gate 1-8

Flashy Lights
Gate 1-8

Any comments or suggestions on this?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Input jack goes to CW end of pot (50k to 100k lin). CCW end of pot goes to
0V/gnd. Center of pot goes to input on PCB.

Yes. Connect a positive voltage to the normalized connection of each jack.
Put at least 1k resistance between the +15V and the normalized connection.
You will probably get better control if you use a 100k resistor here if you
are using 100k pots. You will be sacrificing 1/2 of your range, but voltages
over 7.5 won't be much use anyway. Not this will only affect the normalized
connection. Full range will be possible when you plug something in.

>What's the Inhibit input do?

It disconnects ALL inputs for mthe output, sending the output to 0 volts.

also Up/Down jack.
