Trim pot form factor/part number help

Trim pot form factor/part number help

2011-07-28 by dchang0

Hi, all--

I'm having a heck of a time locating the 10K linear trim pots (marked "10K SPAN" on the CGS26 board).

What form factor are these? The drawing on the PCB suggests box-shaped fine-multi-turn, but I'm getting lost in all the different shapes and sizes out there. Allied Electronics doesn't have photos or specs in their listings, and it's taking me forever to look up the data sheets for every single model.

Or if you guys can suggest specific part numbers, that'd be a huge help.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

The PCB pads on the CGS26 boards will actually take quite a few different models of trimmers. I would suggest that a good multi-turn trimmer from Bourns or Vishay works best.

From Allied you can use the Bourns 3296 series, the W being in-line pins, Y being offset pins (both of which with top adjustment), or X with straight pins and side adjustment. so that would give you the following part numbers:

Bourns: 3296W-1-103LF, Allied: 754-2469
Bourns: 3296Y-1-103LF, Allied: 754-1379
Bourns: 3296X-1-103LF, Allied: 754-2479

The Vishay 64W103 is an equivalent of the Bourns 3296W and this has the Allied stock number: 970-1325.

I personally used the Bourns 3296W on my CGS26 board.

Hope that helps

Regards

Mike
